Keller's Code of ConductKISD Calendar Contact Karen

On The Go is a transportation service offered by Karen Yoong to students in the Keller Independent School District, including Keller High, Central High, Indian Springs Middle, South Keller Intermediate and Liberty Elementary schools.

My service includes picking up students at their homes, picking them up at their respective schools and returning them home. When I pick up students at their homes, I will honk so the student doesn't have to wait outside. When I return them home from school, I will wait until they have entered their homes. I will not leave them outside. I also supply snacks on most days. Please read about my policies and reasonable rates.

Pricing for each week, per child, is $45 one way and $60 roundtrip. Payment may be made by check to me, Karen Yoong, or cash. If either party wishes to terminate the transportation agreement, a written notice is required to be submitted two weeks before the date of termination. Payment is due each Monday morning. If a payment is not ready that morning, then the parents will be responsible for taking their students to school until payment is made. This policy will be strictly enforced. If the price of gasoline ever reaches $5 a gallon or higher, I will need to add a gas surcharge to be determined by how high the price goes.
  1. Parents or guardians of students from Kindergarten through 6th grade will need to send a note to their students' teachers to allow their children to be released to On the Go/Karen Yoong.
  2. The weekly charge must be paid whether your child is present or not, for whatever reason. The charge is for the child's space in the van.
  3. If a child has before/after school detention and needs to be picked up at a different time than usual, there will be a $5 extra charge per trip per child. If a child needs to be at school early or stay late, a parent or guardian needs to call me the NIGHT BEFORE to let me know what time I need to pick them up either at home or school. I also don't mind transporting your child to a doctor, dentist or wherever as long as I'm informed ahead of time so I can reschedule my route, if needed.
  4. If your child is absent from school, leaves early or does not ride for any reason, PLEASE CALL ME at 817-485-5090 or 817-301-3264. Both these numbers have answering machines, so leave a message if I don't answer.
  5. If a child does not come out of school on time and I have to check with the school's office personnel to see why, there will be a $10 inconsideration fee applied, due the following day. If not paid, the child will not ride. When I'm not informed of a student's unusual situation and I have to enter the school and ask about the student, it can take up to 10 to 15 minutes. That causes me to be late for the other students and will result in everyone arriving home late. So, please call me anytime. The best number to reach me is 817-301-3264.
  6. Conditions for immediate termination of transportation:
    • Non-payment of services.
    • Habitually being late for the scheduled pick up time, either home or school.
    • Child is abusive to other children, which includes biting, hitting, screaming, inappropriate language, continuing to not get along with others, etc.
  7. There will be no charges for days when schools are not in session: Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 and March 16-20 (2008-09 school calendar year).
  8. On early release days (check the Keller ISD calendar for dates), grades 1-4 will be out at 12:15 p.m., grades 5th and 6th will be out at noon, and 7th-12th will be out at 1:05 p.m. Parents should make arrangements for their children to return home at those times.
  9. Wearing a seatbelt is the No. 1 rule for riders, and it is the law. I will tell your child to put on his/her seatbelt. However, I cannot physically go through the van and check. Therefore, if a child is found, at anytime, to not have buckled his/her seatbelt, parents will have a choice of their child serving one-day suspension from riding with On The Go or pay a $5 fine to continue riding.
  10. A two-week deposit, plus the first week payment, is required when service is started. This two-week deposit is to be used for the last two weeks of school. There will be no refunds of this deposit.
  11. My morning route starts at 6:15 a.m. and goes through 9:30 a.m. My afternoon route begins at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. If a parents need to contact me, please call before 8 p.m. After that time, I will be relying on my answering machine. Or you can e-mail me at admin@onthegokaren.com.
  12. Fees might be tax deductible.

I serve students at Whitley Road Elementary, South Keller Intermediate and Indian Springs Middle School. I might consider other schools upon request.
